Hello from Orcas Island, WA.
Looking back, who could have guessed at the cultural explosion of the sixties after our launch from Downey High in '62? After I graduated from UCLA, I cycled between teaching in California and traveling and teaching in Europe and North Africa. In 1982 I migrated north to Seattle and then to the island. I've taught in middle school-- humanities and art-- and now am lead teacher for a vigorous homeschool program. I have a lovely family, home and wonderful friends, and we all share our love for this magical place. Because of the Latin classes, I left Downey High with an infatuation for ancient history, art, and mythology which enriched my travels and enlivened my teaching. I'm thankful for those days.
